The big match...image credit Daily post
Chelsea FC have gotten started to pre-season in good speed with a 3-0 mauling of Arsenal in China today. This was made possible with stunning goals from William and Michy Batshuayi in a match that saw Arsenal struggle most of the way.

Match Report

Gunners goalie, David Ospina was tormented throughout the first half by the flying quadruplet of William, Pedro, Victor Moses and Michy Batshuayi. He eventually smashed into Pedro in an attempt to get at the ball and the Spaniard had to be taken off with a nasty head injury.

The fury was up to Moses, William and Batshuayi and the first two were swiftly denied goals by beautiful saves from Ospina but just before the break, William netted a beauty via an 18-yard strike and then Batshuayi made it two in as many minutes.

Just after the break, Micky Batshuayi was at it again with a 25-yard super strike that ended up in the back of the net before anyone really knew what was going on.

Mesut Ozil and the rest of the Gunners team were kept quiet for most of the game and it was only Francis Copelin's shot in the second half that managed to trouble Blues keeper Willy Caballero.

Conte made several changes in the second half, bringing on several youngsters and forgotten man Loic Remy in place of Batshuayi.

William and Lewis Baker kept tormenting the Gunners defence but nothing much came of it until the final whistle

Player Rating Chelsea vs Arsenal

Willy Caballero 8
Truth be told, this new guy wasn’t much tested. Apart from one decent save, he had things pretty quiet as the solid defense before him kept the little threat Arsenal could offer at bay.

Gray Cahill 6
This was another player who had it pretty quiet, thanks to a Mesut Ozil who seemed to be on holiday right on his feet.

Caesar Azpilicueta 7.5
A good day at the office as usual. Solid in defense and near perfect.

David Luiz 8.5
The big Brazilian was kept very busy by Oliver Giroud but lived up to the task at all times.

Victor Moses 8
Fire in the first half, quiet in the second. Bombed forward well when needed.

Mrcos Alonso 8
The definition of excellence on the left wing. He provided the assist for Batshuayi’s second goal after collecting a beauty of a cross from Fabregas.

N’Golo Kante 7
The Gunners midfield was so bad that this all-action midfield rock played with just one eye open which is why he’s got this low rating. Did his job well but then there was nothing much to do.

Cesc Fabregas 9.5
The midfield dynamo was wonderful in the center. Conducted business with perfection and precision as he distributed balls around superbly to his teammates.

Jeremie Boga 9
The Ivorian playmakers showed he was an understudy of Eden Hazard with a dazzling display that left even Manager Antonio Conte shaking his head at times.

William 8.5
Was one of the most influential players in the game. He was bombarded with the ball by his teammates and used the opportunities well.

Michy Batshuayi 9
Michy made a case for himself today like he did against Fulham a week ago. He has improved and he is ready for use. With yet another five star performance today, it will be interesting to see if Chelsea still launch a multi-million-pound bid for another striker.

Fikayo Tomori 7
Bright and sharp on the right side when he came on.

Kennedy 6
Showed glimpses of brilliance but doesn’t look like first team material.

Loic Remy 6
Came on and did a lot of running as usual but nothing else. Doesn’t look like this guy will last beyond pre-season.

Lewis Baker 8
Did wonderfully once he came on. Fed Remy a ball that got wasted in front of goal and then his beauty of a free kick almost found the back of the net.

Andreas Christensen 8
Came on towards the end of the game and showed pure action in the defense. This guy is most likely to make the break into the first team if he can get good game time.

Tomas Kalas 4
Looked good but not first team good. Most likely on his way out.

Jake Clarke Salter. 5
Shaky start on the left section of the back three but settled in soon enough.

Kyle Scott 5.5
Struggled when he came on but looked like he’s got some talent alright.

Mario Pasilic
Came on into the improvised back three to and was a rock. Teamed up well with Fikayo Tomori.on the right.

With this victory all wrapped up, the Blues now look to take on Bayern Munich. in their next game on Tuesday. Interestingly, Bayern Munich were in action today as well in an almighty demolition of AC Milan.

That’s it for now folks. Till next week which is actually tomorrow.
